BG Group, Spectra Energy ranked as global leaders on climate change
BG Group and Spectra Energy were the only two energy companies among the 56 global companies leading on climate change action, recently announced in the CDP Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013.
The report, which analyses the climate strategies of the world’s largest 500 listed corporations and reveals which are the best performers, ranks BG Group and Spectra Energy in its CDP Global 500 Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI), which includes only the top-scoring companies. Spectra Energy is BG Group’s partner in developing a pipeline from production areas in Northeast British Columbia to our proposed LNG export facility on Ridley Island.
The report and index, which are compiled by PwC on behalf of CDP, are backed by more than 722 investors, responsible for investing over US$87 trillion in total.
BG Group and Spectra Energy achieved an ‘A band’ rating for climate performance, which the CDP assesses based on how effectively companies manage, measure and verify their carbon footprint.
Being part of the 2013 CPLI recognizes that we understand the strategic business issues related to climate change and are incorporating management of climate related risks and opportunities in our business plans.
